(sorry for the quality of the photos, my scanner isn't the best)
The first image is from our final project last semester, which was to create a triptych almost, to tell a story through 3 images. I choose to photograph the church that I grew up in(it is in the process of being rebuilt). This is my favorite from the 3, I love the lighting and the high contrast. I used 100 speed film for this project, and did not use any artificial lighting at all.
It was really interesting exploring a space that I was really comfortable with, but also challenging because of that fact, it wasn't a new atmosphere and I wasn't looking at it with fresh eyes. But non the less, it was great to photograph the space!
The second image is from my series "Drunk Driving", almost a year ago one of my friends was killed by a drunk driver. Ever since then I felt that my friend was silenced. By doing this project I was hoping to bring awareness to others, and also bring the feeling of losing someone very important to them. This is an image from the accident scene, I really like the lighting in this photograph, and although it is a simple composition, I feel that it has a strong emotion to it. I would like to develop more into this project, hopefully this semester!
